“Montreat” = "Mountain” + “Retreat”.

Going to camp here in the scenic mountains of Western NC is a youth favorite each summer. Youth from all across the country gather for study, worship, and recreation. Hearts are molded, community is formed, change is invited, and all are embraced.

This historic camp has hosted both Billy Graham and Martin Luther King Jr.

Our youth choose to confirm their faith in Christ and make their faith their own as they learn the basics of the faith including learning about the Bible, the Apostles’ Creed, apologetics, the 10 Commandments, Presbyterian History, and the differences between different faiths and Christian denominations. They may even go on trips such as going to Charlotte to serve at the Crisis Assistance Ministry and to explore the Billy Graham library.

We have a rotating art gallery in the church that features the work of groups such as local elementary students, local elementary art teachers, GHA Autism Supports artists, and more.

This camp sells out each year due to its great popularity. Our young chefs get the opportunity to learn culinary skills and engage in creative food art projects. A local restaurant or bakery often hosts the group for a day. It’s a lot of fun!

We partner with our fellow downtown churches to put on a great vacation bible school for our community. Each day includes music, bible lessons, arts and crafts, gym time, and more.
